In the modern era, digital scam has become very common. Hackers are constantly trying to break the security system to steal our personal information. They can do this through websites, flash SMS, social media etc. But nowadays WhatsApp scam is growing very fast.
The hacker can do this by entering their number on their device and then ask you very politely that by mistake I have entered your number in my device and OTP has been sent to your number, because it is very important for me , can you forward it to me.
And once you send it, you will loose your access and they will get all access to your account. After that, they can ask for money from your friends and family using your name and also can do other criminal activities.
So, you should be careful about this and you should never share your OTP with anyone. Even no one ever asks for your OTP from WhatsApp.
Another scam that is happening Valentine scam. In this case, someone forwards you a fake link that you can win 7 day and 6 night free valentine package at taj hotel.
On going through that link you will be asked to enter your personal details and then you will receive a message that you have won 7 days and 6 nights free valentine package at Taj Hotel. To confirm this, send it to your 20 WhatsApp friends.
By doing this, You may be at risk of data theft and if you share it further, it can be dangerous for others as well.
Even Taj Hotels on twitter handles claimed that it is only a scam and you mustn't enter your details.
The overall conclusion is that you should be very careful about using social media. You should not open informal (Fake) sites of any kind and never share your OTP with anyone.
