In the modern era, digital payment has gained a lot popularity, specially in last 3-4 years almost every smartphone user know about the digital payment and is using this method. From our digital wallet to upi payment everything can be done on our smartphones.


Digital digital transactions like UPI payments or wallet payments usually require stable internet to for the transactions. But, people who do not have an internet and smartphones also can transact via Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, Airtel Payments Bank, Amazon Pay, BHIM and others.

To do the transaction without the internet, you can use USSD service that is *99#. National Payments Corporation of India had launched the (Unstructured Supplementary Service) Data USSD service *99# in November 2012 and the (Unified Payments Interface) UPI in 2016. These two different digital payment methods have since been integrated and allows the users to transact without an internet connection.

For transactions without an internet connection you have to follow these steps:

Step 1: Firstly, you have to register yourself on BHIM app or create an UPI account. For creating UPI account in BHIM UPI app, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, Amazon Pay and other payment app, you have to enter your personal mobile number linked with your bank account. After verification with bank your UPI account will be created. You will be asked to create a UPI PIN for secure transactions.

Note - You should never share your UPI PIN or OTP with anyone.

Step 2: Now you have to dial *99# on your dial pad and it will redirect you to a numbered menu with seven different options  including Send Money, Receive Money, Check Balance, My Profile, Pending Requests, Transaction History and UPI PIN.

Step 3: For sending money, you have to enter 1. Now it with show you different options for transactions UPI ID, phone numbers or account number with IFSC code send money, type 1 in the text field. You can choose method of your choice.

Step 4: If you choose UPI ID method, then you will have to enter the UPI ID of someone whom youwant to send money. If you choose phone number method you have to enter the recipient's phone number. If you select for bank account with IFSC code, then you have to enter the beneficiary's account number and IFSC code. 

Note - IFSC code for different branches of banks are different.

Step 5: Now you have to enter the amount that you want to send to someone without an internet connection.

Step 6: Lastly, you have to enter your UPI PIN and then press Send to complete the transaction. A confirmation will be displayed once your transaction is completed. You may also receive confirmation through SMS. You can also save beneficiaries account details for future transactions.your

Note - Be careful, using the service will cost you a meagre fee of ₹0.50.
